Spain – The Basque Country

We had a wonderful week with Sharron and Fraser, based in the laid back surfer town, Zarautz.

We spent days on the beach here and in nearby Getaria, learning to surf and teaching Sharron and Fraser to SUP and improving our skateboarding skills in the campsite, which has a fantastic holiday atmosphere and is filled with kids that can all skateboard far better than any of us!

We took a day trip to Bilbao, to visit the magnificent Frank Gehry designed Guggenheim museum and also to nearby San Sebastian to wander around the old town and sample the award winning Pintxos.

We were really sad to see them leave and are having to get used to just each other’s company again!

PS We’ve also added a couple of photos to the previous post – hopefully our blog will be photo filled once again from now on

  1. “Pintxos heaven” – wow – just as well you two are so active! Found the new heading to the blog so interesting given Basque separatist issues. Thanks for including photo of the Portuguese farm houses in previous blog – a lifestyle stretching back aeons it would seem.
    Love M and T.

  2. Hai Leigh and Lucy,
The best neigbours in Spain. We love you, your airstream and the beautifull bus. Lucas was playing on Leighs longboard and in San Sebastian he find his own Globe Longboard. All his friends like his board. So he try paddeling with Leigh on the basque country and golfsurfing. Lucy try to learn surfing, Nice to see, she is now a good surfer hopefully 😉
We have had a great time with you. After Zarautz we went to Ainsa in the spanish Pyreneeën. It was beautifull, Parque the Guara. Try to visit it ! You can walk, canyoning, raften and many many more. Beautifull country.
Now we are home again. Have had a great time.
Hope to see you again, your always welcome in the netherlands.
    Thanks for all.

    Enjoy your trip,

    Greatings for Sharron and Fraser’s.
